Guided visits

Cultural visits and events in Toulouse

Walking tours through the city's streets and museum visits, both guided by AEGEE Toulouse members who live here. Joining is free, and so are most visits.

Usually just one visit a week Wednesday evenings

In short

AEGEE Toulouse runs guided walking tours and museum visits around Toulouse, led in English by members who live in the city. Each visit follows its own theme, from local history to markets, bakeries, cheese shops and wine sellers, and most cost nothing to attend.

The format

Guided by the people who live here

Every visit is led on foot by an AEGEE Toulouse member, in English, not by a professional guide. Some follow the city's best-known landmarks; others go looking for what a guidebook skips, from a caviste's cellar to a market stall few tourists ever find.

Two ways to see the city

Every visit is led by an AEGEE Toulouse member. Themes rotate through the year: each family below is a starting point, not a full programme.

Walking tours

On foot, through the streets of Toulouse: the group stops wherever the guide's theme takes it, from a historic square to a market stall or a caviste's cellar.

  • History
  • Cheese shops
  • Bakeries
  • Wine sellers

Museum visits

Fewer of these than walking tours, and chosen through the season. A collection worth an afternoon, always with a member along to give it context.

  • Musée Saint-Raymond
  • Aeroscopia
  • Musée des Augustins

How do you take part?

Two steps, in this order: you cannot book a visit before you are a member.

  1. Ask to join

Send AEGEE Toulouse a direct message on Instagram. No fee and no restriction: Erasmus or not, student or not, anyone who shares what the association stands for is welcome.

  2. Book your visit

Once you are a member, pick a visit on the ticketing page. Spots are limited, so an early look at what is coming up is worth it.

Want to help lead a visit?

Every walking tour and museum visit runs on a member willing to prepare a theme and guide the group through it. If you know a corner of Toulouse worth showing, or a museum worth explaining, AEGEE Toulouse is looking for you.

Common questions

  • Are the visits free?

Membership is free, and so are most visits. When a visit does have a cost, such as a museum entrance fee, AEGEE Toulouse either covers it or charges no more than it paid.

  • What language are the visits in?

English. AEGEE Toulouse is a multilingual association, and its guided visits run in English so that any international student can follow.

  • Do you need to be an Erasmus or exchange student?

No. There is no restriction at all: anyone who shares what the association stands for can join and take part.

  • Who guides the visits?

AEGEE Toulouse members, not professional guides. Each one picks a theme they know well and takes the group through it on foot.

  • How often do new visits come up?

There is no fixed calendar: both walking tours and museum visits are added through the year. What is currently open for booking is always on the ticketing page.

  • How can you help lead a visit?

By volunteering as a guide. Pick a theme you know, whether it fits a walking route or a museum, and AEGEE Toulouse will help turn it into a visit.
